The Hi-5 Africa book collection was created in response to the overwhelming demand for more bilingual African language books following the successful debut of the first edition in my mother tongue, Yorùbá.

Africa is home to more than 2,000 languages, representing a rich tapestry of cultures, ethnic groups, and traditions. While many of these languages are actively spoken, some have limited written resources or are primarily preserved through oral tradition. The Hi-5 Africa collection celebrates five of the continent's most widely spoken indigenous languages—Yorùbá, Swahili, Arabic, Igbo, and Hausa. Together, these languages represent diverse regions across Africa, and one of them serves as an official working language of the African Union.

The first bilingual Yorùbá–English edition was released in 2023, making African language learning more accessible to children, families, and educators. Building on its success, bilingual editions in Swahili, Arabic, Igbo, and Hausa are scheduled for release in August 2026. Each edition follows the same bilingual format and faithfully reproduces the original illustrations and engaging visual design, ensuring a consistent and enjoyable learning experience across all five languages.

Through the Hi-5 Africa collection, I hope to inspire children to embrace Africa's linguistic diversity, strengthen cultural identity, and preserve indigenous languages for future generations.
